EmitenTrust.com MONTREAL, Sept. 29, 2026 /CNW/ -- AdBio Partners, a venture capital firm specialized in early-stage life sciences, today announced the opening of a new office in Montreal, marking the firm's expansion into Canada and establishing Montreal as a new base for its investment and company-building activities alongside its European presence.

The move builds on AdBio's strategy of identifying promising science at its earliest stages and partnering with researchers, entrepreneurs and academic institutions to create and finance biotechnology companies developing first- or best-in-class therapeutics. Since its creation in 2016, AdBio has built with its two first funds a portfolio of 30 companies across Europe, attracting significant follow-on investment and syndication from leading venture capital investors and pharmaceutical companies.

"Quebec was a natural choice for AdBio's first expansion outside Europe," said Alain Huriez, MD, Founder and Chairman of AdBio Partners. "The combination of outstanding academic science, experienced drug development talent and a highly developed life-sciences sector makes Quebec a strong fit with our model. By establishing a team on the ground, we can engage with researchers and founders at the earliest stages of company creation and connect them to AdBio's international network of investors, entrepreneurs and pharmaceutical partners."

AdBio's expansion coincides with the launch of its third fund, which is backed by the Fonds de solidarité FTQ, a leading Quebec-based investor that provides both capital and in-depth local expertise in the life sciences sector and among other LPs, the European Investment Fund (EIF) as well as The National Seed Fund 3, managed on behalf of the French government by Bpifrance as part of France 2030. The partnership reflects a shared ambition to support the creation and growth of biotechnology companies in Quebec and broaden their access to global capital and specialist expertise.

"By investing in AdBio Partners third fund, the Fonds de solidarité FTQ is backing a specialized investment firm with a recognized track record in building and supporting high-potential biotechnology companies. We are particularly pleased that this commitment coincides with the opening of AdBio Partners Montreal office. This local presence will create greater opportunities for collaboration among researchers, entrepreneurs and investors on both sides of the Atlantic, while helping foster the next generation of innovative life sciences companies in Quebec," said Maxime Pesant, Vice-President Private Equity and Impact Investing, Life Sciences, Fonds de solidarité FTQ.

AdBio's Canadian activities will be led from Montreal by Mounia Azzi, PhD, Partner, and Didier Leconte, Venture Partner, in collaboration with the firm's broader investment team and Venture Partners. Through AdBio Fund III, the Montreal team aims to support the firm's first investments

in Canada and build a durable bridge between Canada and Europe for the creation and financing of early-stage biotechnology companies.
