Ara Infrastructure Acquires Majority Interest in Pacific Ag, North America's Largest Crop Residue Supply and Logistics Company
EmitenTrust.com BOSTON, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Ara Partners, a global private equity and infrastructure firm focused on the energy and industrial transition, today announced that it has acquired a majority interest in Pacific Ag, North America's largest crop residue supply and logistics company. The acquisition builds on Ara Infrastructure's waste-to-value strategy and enables Pacific Ag to continue expanding its leading position in the agricultural supply chain.
U.S. farms generate hundreds of millions of tons of crop residue each year, including corn stover and wheat straw left over after grain harvest. Managing residue is an agronomic challenge for growers, who must incur additional expenses associated with tilling, removal and nutrient management. Pacific Ag offers farmers an economic alternative by removing excess residue and upcycling into sustainable feedstocks to meet growing demand from multiple essential end-markets, including dairies, animal protein markets and as the growing medium for mushroom farmers.
The scale of Pacific Ag's national harvesting and logistics infrastructure network, and its ability to access end-markets, enables it to turn waste by-product into income for farmers. Pacific Ag's specialized personnel, harvesting fleet and logistics network collect excess residue directly from the field while protecting soil health. Through its unique end-to-end business model, Pacific Ag has cultivated and managed a diversified set of downstream customers and industries, resulting in many decades-old relationships with its customers and growers.
"Pacific Ag started nearly three decades ago with a simple idea: crop harvests leave behind byproducts too valuable to waste," said Bill Levy, founder and CEO of Pacific Ag. "Pacific Ag takes what used to be a cost in the field and turns it into income for the farmer. We handle the harvesting, storage, and delivery, removing the farmer's need to buy additional equipment or add labor, and put real money back in their pocket," Levy continued. "It is a strong, sustainable business because we work for our growers and communities first, and with Ara's partnership we can bring that opportunity to many more farms across the country."
"Pacific Ag has built what most infrastructure companies spend years trying to create: a national network of scale, differentiated access to essential end-markets, and resilient underlying project economics," said George Yong, Partner and Co-Head of Ara Infrastructure. "Our investment is a clear expression of our waste-to-value focus, turning residue into a productive resource. At a time when affordability is a real concern for farmers and families, and when the country wants more of its feed, fuel and materials produced at home, we are investing in a business that puts income in growers' hands and strengthens our domestic agricultural supply chain."
