Blockchain.com Files for CFTC Licenses to Offer Crypto Derivatives and Prediction Markets in the U.S.
EmitenTrust.com Applications for FCM and DCM licenses mark a major step toward offering regulated crypto derivatives like futures and options along with event contracts to U.S. retail and institutional customers
DALLAS, Oct. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Blockchain.com, a global leader in crypto services for retail and institutional users, today announced that it has filed applications for registration as a Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) and designation as a Designated Contract Market (DCM) with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
If approved, the registrations would allow Blockchain.com to bring regulated crypto derivatives like futures and options as well as prediction market contracts to U.S. retail and institutional customers, expanding the range of markets accessible through its platform.
U.S. traders navigate an increasingly fragmented landscape, often using separate platforms to access crypto and prediction markets. Blockchain.com is seeking to change that by bringing these markets together through one integrated, simple app experience under CFTC regulatory oversight.
Earlier this year, Blockchain.com announced self-custodied prediction market offerings and perpetual futures trading for users in eligible markets around the world. The CFTC license applications are a step toward bringing similar prediction markets and regulated trading offerings directly to U.S. users in the Blockchain.com app.
"Users should be able to manage their digital assets, trade derivatives, and take positions on real-world events easily, without jumping between different apps," said Peter Smith, Executive Chairman, CEO, and Co-Founder of Blockchain.com. "Our DCM and FCM applications build toward that future in the U.S. through the appropriate regulatory frameworks. We want customers to be able to access a broader universe of markets through the Blockchain.com platform they already trust, with the compliance, security and transparency they expect."
The CFTC filings advance Blockchain.com's global regulatory strategy. As digital assets become more deeply integrated into financial markets worldwide, Blockchain.com has continued to invest in regulatory approvals and licensing across major jurisdictions.
Over the past year, the company has secured MiCA authorization through the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) in the EU, achieved Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) registration in the UK, and secured a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) license in the Cayman Islands. Pursuing federal CFTC oversight reflects the same approach in the U.S., working within clear regulatory frameworks and with institutional-grade infrastructure.
