Finzly Certified for Request for Payment on the RTP® Network
EmitenTrust.com Finzly Goes Live with RTP® Request for Payment capability, giving financial institutions new ways to originate, receive and respond to payment requests through APIs and digital experiences.
CHARLOTTE, N.C., Sept. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Finzly, a leader in modern banking technology, today announced it is technically certified to provide Request for Payment (RfP) functionality to financial institution participants of the RTP® network, operated by The Clearing House, following the successful go-live of the capability at one of its bank customers.
The deployment gives the bank the ability to originate, receive and respond to payment requests through APIs and customer-facing digital experiences. RfP remains an emerging capability in U.S. banking.
"RfP gives banks another practical way to help customers get paid and make payments," said Booshan Rengachari, founder and CEO of Finzly. "It puts the bank in the middle of the payment experience, where it should be, and gives customers more choice in how they move money."
Request for Payment allows a business or consumer to send a payment request through their bank, which the recipient can review and approve before the payment is made. Once approved, the payment can settle in seconds over the RTP® network operated by The Clearing House or the FedNow® Service operated by the Federal Reserve.
The opportunity extends beyond a bank's own digital channels. Through APIs, banks can make RfP available to platforms and businesses looking to build instant pay-by-bank experiences into their own applications and workflows. That creates new opportunities across areas such as bill and invoice payments, loan payments, account funding, marketplace transactions and business-to-business payments.
For banks, complete RfP capabilities can create new ways to support both sides of a transaction — helping customers request money as well as make payments. It also gives banks a way to participate in payment experiences that increasingly begin outside the traditional banking channel.
Finzly's RfP capability is delivered through Payment Galaxy, its unified and API-first payment platform for banks. The APIs and the complementing digital experiences allow banks to integrate RfP into existing digital banking experiences or expose the capability to third-party platforms and applications, giving them greater flexibility in where and how payment requests are initiated. The launch builds on Finzly's established support for real-time payments. Payment Galaxy supports multiple payment rails, including ACH, the RTP® network, FedNow®, Fedwire and SWIFT, giving banks a common platform for managing different types of payments.
"We are focused on growing the RTP network through partners that make adopting instant payments straightforward for financial institutions of all sizes," said Keith Gray, Vice President, Strategic Partnerships, The Clearing House. "Request for Payment gives businesses, billers and consumers a faster and more transparent way to receive money, and gives payers control over the transaction. Finzly's platform makes that capability available to more institutions without a heavy technical lift."
The RTP network reaches more than 1,400 financial institutions and carries more than 97% of bank-to-bank instant payment volume in the United States.
Finzly is helping financial institutions of all sizes increase adoption of Request for Payment by bringing RfP to existing customers and making it available to new banks through its modern payment platform and APIs. As RfP becomes a more established payment experience in other geographies, Finzly is giving U.S. banks the infrastructure to make it part of more channels, platforms, and everyday payment experiences.
