EmitenTrust.com N.C. A&T and Local High School Students Compete for Cash Prizes by Putting Their Business Instincts to the Test

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- On October 29, 2026, TD, and Money Confidence Project's Venture Valley team are bringing a high-energy business simulation video game tournament to the students and local community of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Developed by the nonprofit Money Confidence Project (MCP), the award-winning Venture Valley is a free, no-ads, no-in-app-purchases multiplayer business simulation game for PC and mobile devices. It's designed to give students hands-on experience building businesses, making financial decisions, and developing skills that can help create pathways to opportunity and financial strength. The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to practical financial and entrepreneurship education that helps high school and college students build confidence and prepare for future success.

When and Where

The North Carolina A&T Venture Valley tournament will take place:

  • Thursday, October 29, 2026
  • 12pm to 5:30 p.m.
  • Smith Hall - 402 Laurel Street, Greensboro, N.C.

The tournament taps into North Carolina A&T's strong culture of entrepreneurship and innovation. Students will build and grow virtual businesses while competing for $5000 in cash prizes and bragging rights for the top spots on a live leaderboard. By giving students an opportunity to explore entrepreneurship in an accessible, hands-on way, Venture Valley helps participants build skills and financial confidence they can carry into future careers or their own businesses.

During the showdown, players will make real-time decisions involving pricing, staffing, financing, investments, expansion, and more — the same decisions entrepreneurs make while starting and growing a business. In a fast-paced, risk-free environment, students will strengthen their financial decision-making and experience firsthand how those choices can shape a business.

Studies have shown how hands-on learning, especially through a medium young adults understand, really sticks with students in a way textbook learning does not. Research among Venture Valley players has shown the impact of learning through gameplay:

  • More than 80% of college students surveyed said Venture Valley was an effective way to teach business and entrepreneurship
  • 83% said the game made them feel more confident about making financial decisions
  • 93% reported learning at least one business concept or skill through gameplay.

"At TD, we're excited to support North Carolina A&T students as we continue our work with Money Confidence Project's Venture Valley to bring engaging financial and entrepreneurship education to college campuses," said Shelley Sylva, U.S. Head of Corporate Citizenship at TD.

"As the nation's largest HBCU, North Carolina A&T has an extraordinary reach and a strong tradition of developing future leaders. As students see generations of successful Aggies return to campus for Homecoming, TD is proud to help them build the confidence, skills and experience to pursue their ambitions. By providing engaging opportunities to strengthen financial and entrepreneurial decision-making, we hope to help students prepare for future success and contribute to stronger communities."

That emphasis on learning by doing also aligns with North Carolina A&T's approach to preparing students for what comes next.

"North Carolina A&T has a long-standing tradition of preparing students not only to acquire knowledge, but also to translate that knowledge into action, innovation, and meaningful societal impact," said Dr. Abdellah Ahmidouch, Dean of the College of Science and Technology at North Carolina A&T. "Money Confidence Project's Venture Valley puts that mindset into practice by challenging students to solve problems, think strategically, and experience entrepreneurship in a competitive and engaging environment. Bringing that experience to campus during our 100th Homecoming makes it even more special."

Venture Valley has brought that hands-on approach to students at campuses and high schools across the country, giving them opportunities to build confidence through real-time decision-making and competition.

"We're proud to build on our work with TD and to bring Venture Valley to North Carolina A&T during this historic milestone and celebration," said Geoff Howard, CEO of the Money Confidence Project. "We've seen at campuses and high schools across the country how quickly students become invested once the competition starts. They may come for the game and prizes, but they leave having managed resources, adjusted strategies and made real financial decisions, while building confidence along the way. With TD's support, we deliver this experience to more students and build business and financial confidence through competitive fun."

Following a 2025 competition at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC, North Carolina A&T will become the second HBCU to host a Venture Valley tournament through the TD collaboration. Venture Valley tournaments have also taken place on college campuses across the country, including MIT, Boston University, Suffolk University, University of Tampa, High Point University, UC Riverside, Seton Hall, Baruch College/CUNY, and others.
