New Book Uses History's Greatest Expeditions to Rethink Wealth, Risk, and Resilience
EmitenTrust.com Michigan wealth advisor authors debut non-fiction book
PLYMOUTH, Mich., Sept. 30, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- GEM Asset Management, a wealth management firm based in Plymouth, MI, is delighted to announce that its founder, Steve Alexandrowski, CFP®, has published his debut book, "The Edge of Possibility, A Field Guide to Wealth, Risk, And Resilience From History's Greatest Expeditions."
The book draws on a wide range of formidable explorers' adventures from both history and more recent times to illustrate adversity and apply its lessons to the world of wealth management.
"Researching and writing this book, I learned how we deal with adversity and build resilience in extreme situations," said Alexandrowski. "As financial advisors, we see clients face decisions triggered by changes that require a degree of judgment under pressure. Not life-threatening like the explorers but still with consequences for their long-term financial health."
The book tells the story of each explorer's unique adventure, from Scott and Amundsen to Reinhold Messner, Erling Kagge, Sarah Marquis, and Alex Honnold. Each of the ten chapters focuses on the psychological qualities needed to endure their experiences and weaves those into best practices for financial planning. Readers will learn about the feats of Erling Kagge, who faced a 50-day haul through snow and ice, never fully knowing whether he was making progress, and Sarah Marquis, who trained herself to be adaptable to uncertainty in unpredictable terrain.
Listen to Alexandrowski discuss the process of writing the book, and the lessons he learned about adaptability and resilience on The Aligned Money podcast. Request a copy of the book here.
