PwC Canada launches Advancing Canada's Major Projects resource as the Canada Investment Summit puts nation-building on the world stage
EmitenTrust.com New interactive resource helps investors, governments, and industry navigate Canada's US$4.7 trillion major projects opportunity -- from planning and financing to governance, regulatory execution and delivery
- PwC Canada has launched Advancing Canada's Major Projects, an interactive resource that maps some of the country's most significant major projects and shows where investment is flowing, where momentum is building, and how Canada's nation-building agenda is evolving.
- The launch is timed to Prime Minister Mark Carney's inaugural Canada Investment Summit (Toronto, September 14–15, 2026), which is anchored to a goal of catalyzing $1 trillion in total investment in Canada over the next five years.
- It builds on PwC Canada's report Mobilizing Canada's US$4.7T opportunity, which finds the country must shift from planning projects in silos to delivering them as connected systems to capture the full opportunity.
TORONTO, Sept. 18, 2026 /CNW/ -- As Prime Minister Mark Carney's first-ever Canada Investment Summit concludes in Toronto -- convening over 100 of the world's largest investors, who collectively manage more than $100 trillion in assets, to advance more than 165 nation-building projects -- PwC Canada today announced the launch of Advancing Canada's Major Projects, a new interactive resource designed to help organizations navigate complexity across the project lifecycle and turn nation-building ambitions into lasting value.
The Summit has placed a global spotlight on Canada's infrastructure supercycle, with the federal government positioning roughly $280 billion in public capital and incentives to help unlock $1 trillion in total investment across energy, critical minerals, transportation, advanced manufacturing, digital infrastructure and defence.
"Coming out of the Canada Investment Summit, Canada is at the centre of a global conversation about investment and growth. The harder task now is turning that momentum into commitments, and commitments into projects that get built," said Neil Manji, Infrastructure, Engineering & Construction Leader, PwC Canada. "The projects that will have the greatest impact will not be standalone assets, but connected systems that link energy, critical minerals, transportation and communities. At PwC Canada, we help organizations navigate that complexity across the project lifecycle and turn ambition into lasting value."
What the resource offers
Canada is in an era of nation-building -- an infrastructure supercycle in which hundreds of large-scale projects are planned or under construction across the energy, mining, transportation and clean technology sectors. Advancing Canada's Major Projects brings that landscape to life through an interactive guide to some of the country's most significant projects -- including their status, progress and strategic importance -- so leaders can see where investment is flowing and where momentum is building.
The resource reflects a central shift now reshaping the sector: major projects are increasingly planned as integrated systems that connect transportation, energy, digital networks, natural resources, supply chains and communities. As these domains converge, value moves beyond individual assets toward interconnected ecosystems -- creating new opportunities for governments, investors, Indigenous communities and industry to collaborate across traditional boundaries.
Structured well, major projects can:
- Attract global and domestic capital into Canada by offering long-term investment opportunities.
- Support trade diversification by expanding the transportation, logistics and export infrastructure that connect Canadian goods to global markets.
- Empower communities by creating jobs, developing workforce skills, advancing Indigenous partnerships and growing regional economies.
- Strengthen national security, particularly in the Arctic, by building critical infrastructure, bolstering supply chain resilience and asserting Canadian sovereignty.
- Power the energy transition with infrastructure for clean electricity, low-carbon fuels, critical minerals and breakthrough energy technologies.
- Boost productivity by reducing bottlenecks, enhancing economic efficiency and helping businesses grow and compete globally.
Across the project lifecycle, PwC Canada helps organizations bring together effective planning, financing, governance, stakeholder engagement, regulatory execution, workforce development and risk management -- the capabilities that help deliver projects on schedule and generate measurable returns.
Anchored in Canada's US$4.7 trillion opportunity
The resource builds on PwC Canada's report Mobilizing Canada's US$4.7T opportunity, which projects Canada will need US$4.7 trillion in infrastructure investment by 2050. Despite ranking fourth globally in annual infrastructure spending at US$145 billion, Canada invests just 6.6% of GDP -- below the 7.4% invested by high-performing peers -- a gap that requires an additional US$34 billion a year by 2050. Defence infrastructure is projected to grow 389%, making it Canada's fastest-growing sector.
The report points to three shifts that can help Canada capture the opportunity: from isolated assets to integrated systems; from traditional funding to shared capital structures, including blended public-private investment and Indigenous economic participation; and from legacy delivery to workforce readiness.
