TD Scholarship for Indigenous Peoples call for 2027 applications

TORONTO, Oct. 1, 2026 /CNW/ -- TD Bank Group (TD or the Bank) and AFOA Canada are pleased to announce applications are now open for the 2027 TD Scholarship for Indigenous Peoples. The deadline for students to apply for the 2027-2028 cycle is Oct. 31, 2026.

"Programs like the TD Scholarship for Indigenous Peoples help break barriers to education for students and empower them as they begin building out their careers," said Doris Bear, Vice President of Indigenous Banking at TD Bank Group. "This is an example of how we are turning shared responsibility into action, ensuring Indigenous Peoples have access to opportunities that support long-term prosperity and strengthen economic reconciliation."

The TD Scholarship for Indigenous Peoples launched in November 2022 and remains in partnership with AFOA Canada, a not-for-profit led by Indigenous Peoples. Soon to welcome its fifth cohort, the program has supported over 100 students to date. A total of 25 applicants will be selected and will each receive $15,000 annually, with a maximum of $60,000 across or up to four years of schooling, to support tuition and living costs.  The applicants will be invited to intern with TD, gaining relevant work experience that aligns with their career goals.

The scholarship is available to students who are members/citizens of a First Nation, Métis, or Inuit community. Applicants must be permanent residents of Canada and have applied for or are currently enrolled in a full-time, minimum two-year program with an approved post-secondary institution in Canada. Employees of TD and its subsidiaries and their children are not eligible for this scholarship.

What is the TD Scholarship for Indigenous Peoples?
The TD Scholarship for Indigenous Peoples was created by TD in collaboration with AFOA Canada, an Indigenous-led not-for-profit organization. Each year, the program awards 25 scholarships to support First Nation, Métis and Inuit students pursue post-secondary education.

What does the scholarship include?
Each scholarship is worth up to $60,000 over four years. It includes up to $10,000 a year for tuition and $5,000 a year for living expenses, as well as opportunities for summer employment at TD while recipients complete their studies.

Who is eligible to apply?
The scholarship is open to First Nation, Métis, and Inuit students in Canada who have applied to, are enrolled in or have been accepted into a full-time post-secondary program of at least two years at an approved institution for the next academic year. TD employees, employees of TD subsidiaries, and their children are not eligible.
