EmitenTrust.com CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., Sept. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Hamilton Lane (Nasdaq: HLNE), a leading global private markets investment management firm, today announced that Mario Giannini, Executive Co-Chairman, will retire effective March 31, 2027. His retirement concludes more than three decades with the firm and a career that has had a lasting impact on Hamilton Lane and the broader private markets industry.

Giannini joined Hamilton Lane in 1993 as the firm's third employee. Over the course of his tenure, he played an instrumental role in shaping the firm's strategy and growth, including its expansion into new business lines and geographies and its initial public offering in 2017. He served as Chief Executive Officer from 2001 through 2023, when he transitioned to Executive Co-Chairman and was succeeded by Hamilton Lane's current co-Chief Executive Officers, Juan Delgado-Moreira and Erik Hirsch.

Giannini's influence extended well beyond his leadership of Hamilton Lane. He became one of the private markets industry's most distinctive and thoughtful voices, known for his direct style, independent perspective and willingness to challenge conventional thinking. His views were grounded by a practical understanding of markets and a consistent focus on what the data could (and could not) support.

For many years, Giannini also authored Hamilton Lane's annual Market Overview, offering an analysis of market conditions, industry trends and the forces likely to shape private markets in the years ahead. He wrote additional market commentary during significant periods, including the COVID-19 pandemic and more recently on tariff policy. His writing often reflected his interests outside of investing, including his longstanding passion for music. Giannini is an accomplished guitarist and has played lead guitar in Hamilton Lane's company band, The Hamiltones, which raises money for local nonprofits.

"Mario is a true legend in our industry. He has been one of private markets' most important voices and a much-needed provider of perspective, rationality and, at times, sanity," said Hirsch and Delgado-Moreira. "When Mario speaks, the markets listen and his name has become synonymous with both private markets and Hamilton Lane.

"The firm we lead today, managing and advising on more than $1 trillion on behalf of our clients, reflects the vision and leadership he brought to its development. We are grateful for his mentorship, guidance and friendship, and we look forward to building on the foundation he helped create. We wish him the very best in this well-deserved retirement."

"When I joined Hamilton Lane in 1993, we were a small team with a big idea about private markets. Watching the firm grow into a global platform serving thousands of clients has been the privilege of my career," said Giannini. "I am incredibly proud of what we have built, and I look forward to staying close to the firm and the markets that I love."

Through his retirement date, Giannini will continue his regular schedule of travel and will author Hamilton Lane's 2027 Market Overview. Following Giannini's retirement, Hartley Rogers, currently Executive Co-Chairman alongside Giannini, will continue as Executive Chairman of Hamilton Lane and Chairman of the Board of Directors.
