EmitenTrust.com MONTREAL, Sept. 14, 2026 /CNW/ -- The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) announced today that Félix Vil of Montréal, Quebec, was sentenced on September 2, 2026, at the Montréal courthouse to a conditional sentence of two years less a day. Mr. Vil pleaded guilty to one count of forging documents and one count of fraud over $5,000 under the Criminal Code.

A CRA investigation revealed that Mr. Vil, who prepared tax returns through his company, FEFA Multiservice Inc., operated a scheme that involved claiming false charitable donations on his clients' income tax returns to reduce the amount of tax they owed.

As part of this scheme, $438,048 in charitable donations were falsely claimed on the income tax returns of 62 taxpayers, resulting in an estimated $125,102 in taxes evaded. To support some of these claims, Mr. Vil also produced false donation receipts in the name of the Montréal-based Église de Dieu Ében-Ezer.

All case-specific information above was obtained from the court records.

The CRA is committed to fighting tax evasion and other serious tax crimes. There are serious consequences to breaking the law.

Tax promoters are individuals or corporations who promote or sell schemes that seek to break or bend the rules of the Canadian tax laws, including the Excise Tax Act and Income Tax Act. These promoters deliberately make false statements to assist their clients in avoiding or evading tax. As a result, they obtain a financial benefit from the fees they receive from their client(s).

To maintain the fairness of our tax system, the CRA holds both those promoters who facilitate tax evasion, as well as those who use their services to evade taxes, accountable for their actions.

The CRA has set up a free subscription service to help Canadians stay current on the CRA's enforcement efforts.
