World Launches World ID for Banking and Finance to Address AI-Driven Impersonation

The suite of technologies brings together World ID app, World ID for Zoom, and World ID for Agents, giving banking and financial institutions greater assurance that transactions, trades, customer requests, and even important video communications are AI-safe. World also announced the general availability of World ID for Zoom and that Tools for Humanity, a contributor to World, has joined Zoom's independent software vendor (ISV) exchange program.

As AI-generated identities and impersonation techniques become more sophisticated, financial institutions face growing challenges in determining whether the individuals they interact with online are genuine. Deloitte predicts that AI-enabled fraud losses in the U.S. could reach $40 billion by 2027, up from an estimated $12.3 billion in 2023. World ID for banking and finance is designed to address these challenges by providing institutions with tools to establish human presence and verify relevant facts during digital interactions. The offering incorporates:

• World ID app: an identity wallet that gives people a secure place to claim, manage, and present a set of AI-safe human Proofs needed to navigate the internet and digital services in the age of AI
• World ID for Zoom: built for real-time communication, World ID for Zoom lets you confirm that the person you're speaking with is human and not a deepfake
• World ID for Agents: a person can establish Proofs about themselves and delegate them to an agent, allowing the agent to confirm those Proofs to a third-party platform
