EmitenTrust.com KBRA-rated notes backed by small business lines of credit mark the Miami lender's debut in the term ABS market

MIAMI, Oct. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Idea Financial, a provider of fast, flexible lines of credit for small businesses, today announced the closing of its first asset-backed securitization. The $100 million transaction is backed by a pool of the company's small business lines of credit.

The notes were issued in three classes rated by Kroll Bond Rating Agency (KBRA), with the senior Class A notes rated A+ (sf). The transaction includes a three-year revolving period, giving Idea Financial committed, long-term funding to support continued growth. KeyBanc Capital Markets, led by Andrew Yuder, served as sole placement agent. The notes were placed privately with institutional investors.

Transaction Highlights

  • $100 million in notes across three rated classes
  • A+ (sf) KBRA rating on the senior Class A notes
  • 36-month revolving period, allowing collections to be reinvested in new small business lines of credit
  • High-quality collateral: 892 lines of credit to established businesses with a weighted average of 15 years in operation and $2.5 million in annual revenue

"Larry and I started Idea Financial in 2017 at the conference room table of our law firm. Nine years later, we've built a lender that a rating agency spent months examining, from how we underwrite to how our portfolio performs, and that institutional investors chose to back," said Justin Leto, CEO and co-founder of Idea Financial. "This securitization is the clearest measure yet of how far the business has come. We're proud of it, and proud of the team that got us here. It tells our customers and our partners that the capital behind Idea Financial is built to last."

"Every dollar of this financing goes back to work for small business owners: the clinics, contractors, professional firms and retailers who need capital quickly and can't wait weeks for a bank to decide," said Larry Bassuk, President and co-founder. "This deal validates Idea Financial's competitive edge and first-rate risk management and means we can say yes to more quality small businesses across this country."

"I joined Idea in 2017 as its first finance hire, and the term ABS market has been a goal of ours for years," said Santiago Rubio, Chief Financial Officer. "This transaction adds durable, long-dated funding alongside our warehouse facilities and gives us a platform we intend to return to."

A Track Record of Disciplined Growth

Since its first loan, Idea Financial has provided approximately $1.4 billion in financing to more than 10,000 small and medium-sized businesses. Annual originations have grown more than tenfold since 2018, surpassing $300 million in 2025, and the company has been profitable every year since 2021.

Idea Financial underwrites, funds and services every line of credit in-house. Its proprietary platform pairs artificial intelligence, automated credit scoring and review by an experienced underwriting team, and qualified borrowers can receive funds the same day they are approved.

Proceeds from the transaction were used to acquire the initial collateral pool and refinance existing warehouse borrowings.
